80 GMC C3500
It all started when I pulled the work truck into the garage to change the belts. This is what I found around the windshield.
The truck was getting old and it probably would have been wise to head on down to the Toyota dealer and pick up a new Tundra. But that’s no fun, and I’m not very wise. So, we took the old truck apart and began stripping it down.
I had a complete nose off an 87 GMC laying around which, with a little work, could be made to fit on. Off came the old front end.
I wish I had taken more pictures of the installation of the 87 front end … maybe next time. Here is the later style sheetmetal bolted up for fitment.
Fits well.
Off it comes again for body work.
Everything worked, taped off and hung for etch primer and priming.
Etch primered.
Now for primer.
Primer all sanded, truck jambed, reassembled and ready for the paint booth.
I thought I took a few shots in the paint booth, but I can’t seem to find them. Here we are back at the garage ready for color sanding and reassembly.
Here we go. All done, ready for work. A little overkill for a work truck … all of the guys are scared to drive it.
